ARVets PTSD Awareness 5k Run/ Walk

ARVets, a statewide nonprofit organization that provides innovative programs and services to Arkansas veterans and their families, will host the Second Annual PTSD Awareness 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, June 10, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. CDT at the Big Dam Bridge in Little Rock.

June is PTSD Awareness Month and the U.S Department of Veterans Affairs reports that nearly 540,000 veterans from Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan have PTSD in a given year.

Leading up to the race and all through June, the ARVets team is encouraging everyone to participate in the 540,000 Mile Challenge to raise awareness about PTSD.

To participate, all you have to do is connect with ARVets on Facebook or Twitter and tell us the number of miles you run, walk, or cycle on any given day. Post your miles to social media, tag ARVets, and challenge friends to join the cause by using the hashtag #whyirun.
