Fayetteville veterans nursing home conducts parade
FAYETTEVILLE, ARK -- Residents of the Arkansas State Veterans Home at Fayetteville are scheduled to view a parade from the home’s windows Sunday (April 19.)
“We are conducting the parade to encourage our veterans during these times. The parade consists of all those who cannot visit in person, and those in the community who wish to show their support to our Veterans,” said Buster McCall, the home’s Administrator.
The Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs Fayetteville Veterans Home has partnered with Heroes on the Water, the Fayetteville home’s Family Council and Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks to bring this parade to the veterans.
The Veterans will view from the windows of their rooms, spaced out one per window with face mask, or outside wearing masks and spaced at least 6-feet apart. Cars will enter the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks at Fayetteville located at 1100 North College Avenue through the North College entrance, drive around the circle, back onto North College, turn right on North Street, turn right into our parking lot, circle between the first two parking rows. The residents and staff will practice social distancing whether observing from inside or the grounds of the home. Cars in the parade will maintain 20-foot distance from each other.
Those who wish to join the parade should meet Stephanie from Heroes on the Water at Mojo’s located at 1200 North Garland, at 13:45. Stephanie can be reached at (479) 640-6233.
